The Old Guard 2

Eric supervised a small team at The Third Floor to provide previs and techvis for 2 sequences for the upcoming film.  He was able to leverage his virtual production experience to help solve some challenges with LED Volume filming.

House of the Dragon

Leveraging his experience on GoT, Eric pitched in on House of the Dragon S1 as a Virtual Production Supervisor overseeing shots of the actors riding Dragons.  This primarily involved translating the dragon animation and camera moves to an SFX motion-base and wire-cam/libra head system.  Eric lead a team at TTF to solve moves and create data files to drive the equipment and then was on-set at the Leavesden LED stage to lead all the testing and validation to make sure everything was doing what it was supposed to in order to achieve the desired shot.

krypton

Krypton

Eric was one of two On-set VFX Supervisors for season 2 of Krypton taking ownership of episodes 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10.  Eric worked directly with production in Belfast while VFX Supervisor Ian Markiewicz worked in LA with final vendors.

Eric worked with all departments to communicate and plan what was needed to execute the shots. Eric was involved with all the tech-scouts to make sure he understood what was doing to be needed and to communicate VFX needs & concerns.  Eric scheduled and oversaw any prep work that needed to happen before shooting, e.g. constructing scaffolding for greenscreen. Then he was there on-the-day to supervise the VFX work and make sure everything went according to plan.  This included working with all departments to make sure VFX shots were exectured properly.  While on-set Eric lead the efforts of the VFX wrangler team as well as leading a team of VFX riggers to place greenscreens.

Game of Thrones

Eric was the primary On-Set VFX Supervisor on seasons 6, 7, & 8 of Game of Thrones.   Eric was usually on his own when On-set.  This was especially true for the filming in Spain.  While in Spain Eric was the VFX HoD.  On season 7 Eric supervised all the shooting of the Loot Train sequence and in season 8 he supervised everything for episode 3, the night battle for Winterfell.

For the sequences that Eric supervised he worked closely with Joe Bauer the VFX Supervisor in pre-production to decide on the methodology for shooting the complex shots, what would be shot practically, what would be an element, what different passes were needed, what would be CG, how we'd use greenscreens, partial set builds, etc.  Eric would then work with all departments to communicate and plan what was needed to execute the shots.  This included working with production and the 1st AD to make sure all needed passes were scheduled and that all needed equipment (cranes, manitous, cheery pickers, extra cameras, etc) would be scheduled for the needed days.

Eric worked closely with stunts and SFX to make sure everyone was working together to achieve the director's vision.  He was involved with all the tech-scouts to make sure he understood what was doing to be needed and to communicate VFX needs & concerns.  Eric scheduled and oversaw any prep work that needed to happen before shooting, e.g. constructing scaffolding for greenscreen. Then he was there on-the-day to supervise the VFX work and make sure everything went according to plan.  This included working with all departments to make sure we shot the VFX shots properly.  While on-set Eric lead the efforts of the VFX wrangler team as well as leading a team of VFX riggers to place greenscreens.

Additionally, Eric supervised most all of the VFX element work for seasons 5-8.  This included working out the technical requirements for shooting the elements often creating his own tech diagrams, then supervising on-set, sometimes without a director, working directly with the DOP, stunts, SFX, and the other departments to set up all the shots, and providing direction to extras, stunts, and sometimes, the principal cast.
