While working on Game of Thrones Eric was often asked, "how big is the dragon?"  The stock answer was to compare the dragons to the size of an airplane like a 747.   However, this wasn't really helpful.   It was obvious to Eric that there needed to be a better way to convey to everyone, how big the dragon would be in the real world.

There is a tool in VFX called Simulcam that was created to do this exact thing while filming.  However, Simulcam is connected to the production camera and is slow and expensive.  Eric wanted a simple,  solution, a "Simulcam-lite" app that you can take with you anywhere.

 

Working with software developers at The Third Floor, Eric was able to create an iOS Simulcam app that runs on an iPad.  This app is called Cyclops.  Cyclops has been used on films and shows from Lucasfilm, Marvel, HBO, and more.
